Right up front, let me apologize… although I did NOT order the 90-degree weather! A glitch in the schedule…it was not due to arrive before July. But as is usual for these parts, we sped through Spring and landed right at the corner of Summer and Scorch. It was HOT! But one look at those coooool green cukes for sale and you felt much better, amirite?
Fun Fact: The inside of a cucumber can be up to 20 degrees cooler than the outside.
As you know, there’s not much that can stop food from growing in its season, nor the LFM from making it available to the faithful. We are here Memorial Day to Halloween, no matter what the weather gods send.
But to answer a few questions and calm a few fears: Yes, there were a few scheduled vendors who were missing from the midway last week, and we do apologize for any disappointments…we shared them.
Big Sky Bread WILL be back…just a mechanical issue that needs to get resolved…so keep space in your basket for that pepperoni bread.
Some smaller venders are still getting their staffing levels up to speed. Anyone who has gone to a restaurant recently knows that there is a shortage in the food-service labor force…another gift from the pandemic. They are even more disappointed than we are with their enforced absence…and we are all working on it. Stay tuned.
That said, I give you the June 12 Vendor Schedule as it appears on our site: Fruitwood Farms, Green Zebra Farms, GreenHorn Gardens, Mitchell & Mitchell Wines, MyHouse Cookies, Taste of Puebla, Wilson’s Curiously Good Foods, Takay Catering, Oatastic Creations, Amazing Acres Goat Dairy, Faiya, Franklin Fountain, Red Brick Craft Distillery, Vera Pasta, Two Locals Brewing Company, PLAR Essence, and Amorpesto (by) Love, AnnaMaria
If Vera Pasta and Amorpesto had a love child, it would be named AnnaMaria. Toothsome pasta married to bright green pesto just like your Genoese nonna used to make…and buon appetito! I’m also thinking’ that the Vera penne might consider a fling with a little sump’n sump’n from Planted Kitchens…but we’re all adults here, right?
As always, weekly schedules and vendor info can be found at our LFM website.
It’s also important that I address a few questions that came to us last week regarding current COVID restrictions. As of this writing, we are following Governor Wolf’s mandates until such time as they are revised or removed. We cannot go by what other communities are doing. You and our town are our concern. That means masking in situations (in or out of doors) where there are unvaccinated children, or difficulty in keeping social distancing when you are not sure of the other guy. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
That said, we are very optimistic that the 2021 LFM season will soon return to pre-pandemic mode, with artists and music, events and joy. Then we’re gonna party like it’s 2019.
And speaking of celebrations, manythanks to US Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, PA Congressman Malcolm Kenyatta and Lansdowne Borough Council for helping raise Lansdowne’s Gay Pride flag on the Avenue. We share the pride!
Keepin’ it cool…
