It’s mid-June now…the fickle weather gods have had their fun, and the days, now at their longest, grow reliably warmer. Even with the surfeit of rain, the pull of the sun is strong, and the earth responds…This is what it’s been waiting for. It’s GROW time!
Everything is alive with energy. You can see it. You really can almost watch the grass grow. You can hear it…and not just in the ever-present sound of mowers and blowers. Birds are frantically calling around, looking for more than a good time. The next generation is on the… uh…wing! Come fly with me…It’s Grow Time!
And best of all, you can taste it! If you haven’t yet scooped up a quart or two of ripe red strawberries…ding a ling ling…Wake Up! They’re only here for the first act, and then it’s Going Away time. Same with that pale green asparagus. Growing seasons wait for no one. So get GO-ing.
Know what else is growing?…the LFM vendor list. We all know how challenging these last two years have been for our vendors…but it has also turned some kitchen dilettantes into real entrepreneurs who are turning their experiments into products and taking them out on the road. We even had a surprise newcomer last week:
Introducing Mother Butter: a healthy, grown-up seed-based alternative to peanut butter. Nerd fact: Those healthy pumpkin seeds you added to your last salad? Turns out that just ingesting the jacketed seeds takes us only half the way there. All the magic they hold doesn’t stay in our tummies long enough to escape into our system.
Mother Butter is planning to be here once a month, so look for them on the schedule for July.
If jelly is your jam, this is the week to snag a little sumthin’ from Fifth of a Farm Creations…and not for nothin’, Big Sky bread makes a perfect delivery system.
And of course, on this week’s Body and Soul beat we have Triton Soap & Skin Care and the ever popular Sara Burns’ Kiss My Soul Naturals.
In the Artist’s Tent: Karen Heenan’s Useful & Beautiful fabric handmades. You never know what you’ll find…something for the kitchen, for the kids, or maybe just because.
And one last housekeeping word. As we await the changes and upgrades that will be coming to our space, we’ve established the most logical automobile ingress (Lansdowne Ave) and egress (Owen Ave) for the current LFM season.
PLEASE exit the Market space S L O W L Y. Thank you.
Don’t forget to read ALL of The Link…for all the news and info on what’s coming up and going down all over Lansdowne. This town is growing places!
As Lansdowne gets ready to celebrate Juneteenth, I want to wish all of my friends everywhere a meaningful and joyful commemoration of the day.
Let’s grow together!
