Members of the Lansdowne community marched in a pride parade Saturday ending at the Lansdowne Farmers Market.

A parade celebrating love and belonging saw dozens marching through Lansdowne Saturday at the borough’s annual Pride Parade, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.

Lansdowne’s pride activities helped kick off the countywide Pride Month events.

Lansdowne community members began with a pride flag-raising ceremony at Borough Green, then marched through the borough to the Lansdowne Farmers Market, which was included this year to make the event a full-day activity.

Jennifer Hoff, one of the organizers, described the event as a family reunion.

“Lansdowne has the second highest population of gay people in the state of Pennsylvania, right behind New Hope, so they’re here, right? They deserve their thing, too,” she said.

Local vendors at the Lansdowne Farmers Market sold pride-themed products. There was face painting for the kids, and organizers handed out information for the LGBT community.

“A lot of us have been feeling very disparaged. So right now, it’s more than anything to have that community and be there for each other and show that we’re here, we support each other,” said Adrian Bruce from UDTJ, a community center.

Different events will take place in communities throughout Delaware County during Pride Month, including a Pride parade in Media next Saturday.
