Well, that’s one down and 22 more to go. But let’s not rush things…I want to enjoy each and every new week, from kick-off to close. You too, I hope, because seeing your familiar faces is part of the whole LFM package.
It’s sorta like binge watching… but not. We do have to wait 6 days between episodes. And there’s no fast-forward…. But no commercials either. So there’s that. And although we won’t qualify as couch potatoes, if Creative Shepherd’s first visit is any indication, we’ll be eating lots of them this year. But you never know what surprises Sebastian has up his green sleeves. Stay tuned.
Despite the unpredictable weather, June is already busting out those temperamental strawberries at Fruitwood Farm’s tent. That’s one of those seasonal treats that if you waste time blinking your eyes you might miss altogether. But FLASH! There is some scientific chatter of a new berry that may someday stretch the season by weeks or months! The new buzz word for these super-berries is “day-neutral”, currently in very limited production, but we’ve got all fingers and toes crossed that this is the start of something BIG! And you heard it here first!
In the world of Farmers Markets, nothing is for certain sure…and we may miss a mark on the calendar during the course of a season. It’s all part of the musical chairs the crops play with Mother Nature. And week to week, as the summer flows toward fall, I’ll try to give you a heads up on what’s on the way at the produce tables. But you can do it just like I do by going here. And here. Shop prepared.
A serious word re: the Covid times.
We’re crossing all fingers and toes that our 2022 vendors will be able to meet the challenges that for the last two seasons wreaked such havoc on their ability to staff and stock their booths. A few had to drop out of the schedule for the duration. We hope to welcome some of them back as LFM regulars. We’re beyond grateful to our long-time vendors that somehow made it all work. I’m lookin’ at you My House Cookies, Big Sky Bread and John Wilson’s Curiously Good Foods.
But let’s talk about the newbies. Take a minute to peruse this year’s vendor line-up. Notice a trend? So many new products, with more natural ingredients, to put a shine on both the inner and outer you. This week, just for starters, make it a point to visit Creative Shepherd (inner u) and Tammy’s Body Butter (outer u).
In the Artist’s Tent: Oh, my stars! It’s Caroline Lancaster and Origami Retreat.
Last but not least: Since you’re reading this, you’ve already taken a bite of THE LANSDOWNE LINK, the LEDC’s new and improved way of keeping you informed about what’s happening around the town. More importantly, it’s where you’ll find my weekly article! But you need to read it all to get all the goodness.
