We knew it would get here eventually…and as always, sooner than we imagined. I’m not sure what I’m going to do next Saturday…although there ARE a few dust bunnies under the bed, and someone has written my name on the credenza. (Just joking…I don’t have a credenza.)
Maybe a road trip to do some leaf peeping? In case you haven’t noticed, Hurricane Ian did provide the water needed for some specTACular fall foliage.
And how ‘bout those Phillies?!?! That may take up some space on everyone’s dance card for the next little while. Even I might become a temporary sports fan.
Do I need to remind you that this week is the annual Halloween Market? Are you coming as you is or as you ain’t? Let’s have fun. From what I’m hearing, Super Heroes and Warrior Women are leading the pack, but don’t follow the crowd…A market buck to anyone who shows up dressed as produce.
Of course, it’s really all about the kids this Saturday. While so many old traditions are changing, Trick or Treat is still the name of the game for the pre-adult set. So we’re hoping to get our share of scare with some ghosts, witches and pirates; and with some fairy princesses, angels and animals for balance, and all on the prowl for sweet-tooth booty. And there will be candy to be had! Many of our vendors, and of course the Market tent, will be handing out treats to the munchkins. And I do believe Mayor Magda will be on hand at the Landing with some Happy Halloween spirit.
For more adult trick or treating, this is ALMOST the final call for stocking your freezer, your pantry and your vanity (if not your credenza) with what Mama and Papa Bears need to get through the winter. Yes, I said ALMOST…because the LFM does have one more trick up our collective sleeves. As always, we invite all of you, and as many of our vendors as we can cram into our space, to our special Thanksgiving Market, Saturday, November 19th. Whether you’re hosting or guesting for the big day, you’re going to need to stock up on all the thisses and thats that your tradition demands. Pies and breads. Soups and sweets. Packages of teas and six-packs of local brews. Are you writing this down? Candles and a good bottle of wine are always welcome gifts for the hostess. Be that guest.
As in the past, we will have our abbreviated winter markets, 10 a.m. to noon, on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from Dec. through April. So dress warm and meet us there.
The LEDC and our crew of volunteers hope that this 2022 season of the Lansdowne Farmers Market renewed your appreciation for what this town has to offer. And there’s more coming. New shops up and down the Avenue, giving people a place to meet friends; major improvements to public spaces; music and community events that bring people to visit, and quite often, to move here. The LFM is proud to be a part of that, and of the resilience that kept the lights on (or the tent up) over those two difficult seasons. We’re so glad we…and you…came.
Now, be sure to go back and read the entire Lansdowne Link for more information on local events…and be sure to tell your friends and new neighbors to visit lansdownesfuture.org and sign up for the newsletter.
Goodbye for now from…
LansDowne-not-Dale!
