Bounta Phengsisouk and family proudly opened AviAnna Restaurant and Banquet Hall at 55 E. Baltimore Avenue. Named in honor of his granddaughter, the tastefully decorated Asian Fusion restaurant can accommodate over 200 guests and has a separate banquet room for groups and private parties – complete with dance floor! The impressive 3,000 square foot interior with luxury apartments above is a mixed-use redevelopment of a Victorian era property that had been vacant and underutilized for decades.
The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and lunch Friday and Saturday. Brunch is served 10am until 4pm Sunday. Menu specialties include selections from Thai, Vietnamese, and Laotian cuisine with a twist on traditional Philadelphia favorites. A variety of house made deserts range from fried banana to chocolate crème brulee.
This family project began when they purchased the distressed property, a former bake shop, known by locals as Virginia Donuts, which closed in 1975. Bounta saved this important building in the heart of Lansdowne from neglect and water damage.
Transformation of the site is truly amazing. The LEDC supported the project by providing design assistance and a grant for facade’ improvements and sees the opening of AviAnna as a major accomplishment in Lansdowne’s continuing re-vitalization efforts.
